Surrounding by trees and snow, Koda crept along the unknown path into the depth of the forest. Her grayish coat was now a silky white, and covered in the white snow that fell. Auburn orbs searched her surroundings, as if looking for a lost item. Silently, her delicate paws made marks in the snow as she took each step. Hearing a rustle in the bushes, she jumped and went into defensive mode; ready to take on anything that came her way. After a short while, when nothing came, she continued walking, eyes wide in case of predator or prey. Reaching a frozen lake, Koda stopped along the side, taking in everything she saw. Everything was so different from where she had lived before, much more peaceful and beautiful. Shaking the snow off of her, she crouched down as she watched a hare hopping around casually, trying to find food to eat.
“Poor thing” she thought. “It doesn’t know what it’s about to experience.”
Creeping soundlessly behind the tall, wild grass scattered about the edges of the lake, she went until she was in perfect view of the hares back, where it wouldn’t be suspecting a thing. Lowering herself down even further, she stretched out her long, firm legs, waiting for the perfect moment. As the hare expanded its body to lean against the tree, she pounced, landing right onto the prey. Quickly, tearing it apart, she finished it in a hurry. Licking her lips, she curled up into the snow near a giant oak tree.
“What a wonderful dinner.” She thought, pleased with herself for catching the hare.
Soon, she was sound asleep, dreaming of what else would happen in this magical place.
